What is a polish?

In the detailing industry the word “polish” is used to describe a liquid abrasive that is used to remove minute layers of paintwork. Compound is another word used to describe an aggressive polish.

What is a glaze?

A paint glaze is a non-abrasive liquid containing oils and fillers aimed specifically at masking minor defects to create a high gloss finish. Glazes are a temporary solution for masking minor defects when polishing is not required nor possible. Glazes do not have great durability and typically last for a few months.
